- Wash and Wax to Fight Pollen by Stuart J. BradyWiping pollen off your car with a dry cloth can damage your car’s finish, producing that “swirly” effect we’ve all seen in a finish if the light is right. Welcome , today is Wednesday, May 30, 2012

I have a friend in Kirkwood so I went to visit in my 1972 Olds Cutlass convertible. While there I cruised into Kirkwood Car Wash not really expecting much. This car only gets washed a couple times a year and had accumulated a lot of dirt and pollen. It has never been through an automatic wash and I am pretty particular about how it gets treated. I washed and waxed my car and, much to my surprise, it looks better than ever. I’m not surprised that it got clean but I am surprised that the spray-on wax was so effective. I have always believed that a paste wax, along with some elbow grease, was the only way to get a good shine. Boy was I wrong! And all I did was spray it on and rinse it off. Now my friend in Kirkwood can expect to see me at least two times a year.
Wow, J., thank you for your comments, it’s much appreciated! I look forward to catching you next time you’re at The Wash!
